When I was a young girl, I remember getting caught almost every time I was in the wrong.  I hated it then, but honestly, it was one of the best things that happened to me in my childhood. (more…) Read more

Do you ever feel like you are running on fumes…like the stale fumes from your office break room or the pungent smell of baby spit-up mixed with old dirty diapers in the trash?  Well, if you said “yes”, then I promise you, Reader, you are not alone. (more…) Read more

Zombies.  They are EVERYWHERE.  As a nation, we are zombie-OBSESSED…and not just on Halloween.  These “walkers” invade our television and movie screens, and we actually sympathize with these lifeless, rotting creatures.  Just the other day, I saw a Facebook ad for a ZOMBIE CRUISE.  Yes, I said “cruise”.  Seems crazy, right?   (more…) Read more

A few months ago, a friend of mine was telling me about her experience as a child whose parents divorced when she was a young girl.  She told me that she grew up in a home where everything was completely peaceful and seemingly perfect…ALL THE TIME…from her perspective.  She had never seen her parents argue. I recently watched Meredith Vieira interview a young widow with four children.  This woman had just lost her police officer husband in a terrible accident two months prior.  I couldn’t help but watch while she described her husband’s many favorable attributes with tears in her eyes and a smile on her face.  When Meredith asked her how she was doing these days, this woman’s response wasn’t at all what I expected, and it has forever changed my perspective. As I was cleaning out our attic recently, I came across an enormous box full of pictures, art projects, and paraphernalia from my childhood.  As I filed through the toy portion of the big box, I found a collection of my very favorite childhood toy…the infamous troll doll. WHAT. THE. HECK. WAS. I. THINKING? (more…) Read more
