Third stop- Makkah- Umrah and Tawaf

After Johfah, our bus took us to our hotel where we just left our luggage and from there we went straight to Ka’aba to perform the Umrah e Tamattu, which in itself is a set of rituals consisting of Tawaf (circling around Ka’aba seven times), Salah, Saee(walking seven times between the nearby mountains of Safa and Marwa, taqseer (clipping your hair) and then another set of tawaf and Salah. This took us approximately four hours to complete.

We did optional tawafs as well while in Makkah for several days. After each successive days the crowds got bigger and bigger and it became more physically demanding to complete our tawafs. After one such tawaf where we barely had any space to breathe, I returned to our hotel, which was about a ten-minute brisk walk from the haram, and shot this video illustrating how crowded the haram was.

Next Stop-Arafat
