7 Quick Takes Friday!

7 Quick Takes Friday! March 25, 2011

I’m sad today. I spent all night and morning doing laundry and packing up Sienna and the Ogre (okay, mostly I worked on a bracelet till two and then slept while the kids played this morning, but the laundry was washing in the background), who headed to California this afternoon to attend the funeral of the father of one of our dearest friends. Could you keep them in your prayers, please? Not just the Ogre and Sienna, but our friend, her family, and her father’s soul? It wasn’t an entirely unexpected death, but it was nevertheless devastating, as, I expect, the loss of anyone’s father always must be. I’d really appreciate it if you would remember them in your prayers tonight.

On to quick takes.

I didn’t realize how hard it would be for me to watch the Ogre and Sienna drive away. When he said he wanted to take her, my heart just dropped. I haven’t been away from Sienna since our honeymoon, when she was a year and a half old. I find myself at a loss right now. She’s my right hand! Who’s going to go get the wipes when I start changing a diaper and forget that the wipes are in the other room? Who’s going to sit with Liam so that he stops crying when I’m trying to make dinner? More importantly, who am I going to talk to for the next two days? She’s the only one around here who I can have a conversation with! (When the Ogre’s studying, I mean.) Who am I going to talk to? Who am I going to watch a movie with tonight? Who’s going to say our nightly prayers with me? I’m crying, now. I miss my girl.

I also miss the Ogre. Who’s going to kiss me goodnight? Who am I going to cook breakfast for? Who’s going to stay up way too late making jewelry and watching old episodes of Fringe with me tonight?

To make myself feel better, I bought some mini peanut butter cups from Trader Joe’s earlier. (It’s a feast day! Lay off, Lent nazis!)
I’ve been eating them as I type. I keep moving them further and further away so I won’t eat any more, and then just reaching further out to get them. I finally got up and put them out of reach.
Then I got up and grabbed a handful.
They’re not making me feel better, only slightly nauseous.

Also to make myself feel better, I looked at my search terms just now. Guess what I saw?
“Hot Mature Ladies”
I don’t know how to explain how that search ended with the pervy searcher on my page, but here’s a theory.
The God of Google notices that yet another creep is searching for inappropriate images via His domain. He says, “That’s it! I’ve had it with these skeez-tacular searchers! He wants hot? I’ll give him…a mom of three who hasn’t managed to lose the baby weight and is currently wearing pajamas and eating mini peanut butter cups! He wants mature? I’ll give him a woman who is maturing into her strong Catholic beliefs! He wants a lady? Well, okay. I’ll let him have that one.”
Boom. You’ve just been castigated by the God of Google. Sorry, buddy. Maybe you ought to go to Confession.

Well, yes, that works.
But that’s not exactly what I had in mind.
I’m going to show you the pretty earrings, ring and bracelet I made with our new silver! I’m seriously loving the silver wire. Everything looks so much prettier in silver. So, here you go!
