Frustrated That God Isn’t Answering Your Prayers? Keep This In Mind… July 16, 2019

No matter how you spin it, waiting for God to answer our prayers can be difficult. We may never fully understand why the Lord makes us wait, but he always has a reason. Here are some thoughts I shared in my book – Stop Worrying & Start Living (2016, Dynamic Catholic). If you’re frustrated that God isn’t answering your prayers, check out this verse from the Book of Tobit…

He was fifty-eight years old when he lost his sight, and after eight years he regained it. (Tobit 14:2)

I Don’t Like To Wait

I don’t know about you, but I can be very impatient. Not only does my impatience show itself in my daily activities, but it also affects my prayer life. When I pray, I prefer God to answer immediately. The fact that he doesn’t operate that way can be very frustrating. Can you relate?

My Way Or God’s Way

In order to experience peace, either we have to change or God has to change. Since we all know that God doesn’t change (that’s why he’s God!), you and I have to get busy. It all starts with accepting the fact that God always knows best. Tobit was healed after praying for eight years. What if he had stopped praying after seven? Let’s continue to persevere and give God the benefit of the doubt when it comes to our prayer requests. His timing is perfect.

Whatever you do, don’t stop praying for what you need. The Lord knows what he’s doing. Give him some room to work!
