Lest you think our tour of Egypt was all serious archaeological stuff all the time… I present to you our time in hot air balloons at dawn and on a faluka as well. All this transpired at Luxor. The balloon ride takes place on the west side of the Nile and you have to get going at 4 a.m. but it is totally worth it.
In part you fly over the valley of the Queens and of the Kings
The shots of the rising sun over the Nile are unforgettable…
You also get a very clear picture of these valleys where the tombs are…
A faluka is a small sailing boat and it relies on the wind of course. It leaves from the east side of the Nile, from right behind our hotel, the Luxor Palace hotel….
Here’s our happy crew…
and two happy participants
And our beautiful Egyptian guide…
We saw a early morning wedding taking place along the eastern shore…
And a balloon landing on the western shore….
Other falukas sailing along with the gentle breeze. It is such a quiet and peaceful trip.
And a great view of how the Nile nourishes the land nearby
