The Non-Story Story of My New Blogging Home

The Non-Story Story of My New Blogging Home

You have heard it a million times, the cliché used in every cheesy movie break-up, “It’s not you . . . it’s me” as if somehow that eases the pain for the one being left?  Well, this is not really a break-up, but in regards to my leaving, it’s true. After blogging for Patheos.com since April, I’m leaving to go back on my own.

And, yep, you guessed it . . . it really is about me.

When I launched the new blog a few weeks ago, I received a couple of  inquires wanting to know why I left Patheos. After all, it was a paid blogging gig and in my new life as one of them there consultant types, it seemed like a perfect situation. Surely there must have been something . . . he asks with a sinister whisper. And while a sordid blogging scandal would no doubt help my stats and ad clickage, it simply came down to the realization that I have seriously high control needs. I am very supportive of the work that Patheos is doing around interfaith relations, but understandably, they must maintain a certain level of creative control and uniformity. I, on the other hand, want to be able to tweak this, tinker with that and get all up in the .php and .css madness. This being my first wordpress blog, I had forgotten how much I love diving into the code. There is a part of my personality that thrives on the thrill and adventure of trying to figure out how to tweak the code in order to change the color of the lines on my navigation bar. Because when you hit that refresh button  . . . and the lines change from dark grey to burnt orange . . . wow, what a rush.

And yes, they is the extent of the thrill and adventure in my life.

Please. Stop. Laughing.

I will still have a presence on Patheos – yes, sometimes you remain friends – the only change is that the content posted there will be more focused on religion and faith and I can tinker to my heart’s delight on www.reyes-chow.com. This shift should be a great all-around adjustment for everyone.

So . . . if you want to keep up with my blogging life here are your options:

So there you have it. The non-story of the week.

Thanks for those who have hung out with me this long. I am excited about my new blog look and getting settled into a new posting rhythm. I have a pretty good variety of topics and posts lined up for the next few weeks, so I hope you’ll subscribe and stay in touch.
