2.  When they called my mom a racist for saying the same words Carney said

My mom wrote a Facebook post a few years back calling out President Obama for constantly changing the story about Benghazi. She called it his “shuck and jive schtick.” That’s a phrase Obama’s former press secretary Jay Carney once used in a press briefing. But to Gawker, it was only racist when my mom used it. The site even turned to the ever “reliable” source Urban Dictionary to prove it’s “racially charged” language:

Except, here’s the thing: When Carney used the phrase, he was called a racist by the same right that is now defending Palin by saying she can’t be a racist because Carney said it too.

Those people are half right: Carney wasn’t a racist when he said it because he was talking about himself. Palin, however, is purposely aiming slave-owner terminology at a black person.

Therein lies the racism.
