Rapper-turned-actor Common doesn’t hold a common view of abortion in his circle of friends. He is not shy in the least to stand up for the unborn. His actions may be the bravest of all because he once spoke out at a White House event all about the impact of music on the culture that was hosted by none other than first lady Michelle Obama. Here’s what he said in front of her:

“Our music can really change the perspective of someone’s life. I honestly had a song about abortion and I’ve had people come to me and say that song was the reason why I decided to have my child.”

The song he was referring to is called Retrospect for Life. Here are some of the lyrics:
