Hours after Trump is elected, a Muslim woman was attacked… Or was she? November 11, 2016

It only took hours after Donald Trump was elected president for the first reports of an attack on a Muslim to start pouring in. But the catch, none of it is true!

An 18-year-old Muslim woman and University of Louisiana at Lafayette student reported an attack by two men, one wearing a Trump hat, of course, who beat her to the ground with a metal object, shouted obscenities at her, and then ran off with her wallet and hijab. NBC News reported on the incident.

Soon after, the ACLU of Louisiana released a statement in defense of the victim:

The ACLU of Louisiana is outraged at the news of a young Muslim woman being assaulted and robbed of her hijab in Lafayette yesterday morning. The report that her attackers also shouted slurs and wore Donald Trump clothing is especially troubling in light of Mr. Trump’s frequent use of anti-Muslim rhetoric on the campaign trail.

Like HotAir noted, “This story really checks all the boxes. It took place in the south. It appeared to involve obvious bigotry by the thieves. And, of course, there’s a connection to Trump.”

But… IT NEVER HAPPENED!

By Thursday, the woman confessed that she made up the entire story and investigators closed the case. How ridiculous to waste those resources on a lie!

And shame on the media for believing the hype and the ACLU for putting reactionary politics above facts.
