Angry with the outcome of the election of Donald Trump, San Francisco high school social studies teacher Fakhra Shah penned a lesson plan for her class that paints the president-elect as a sexist and racist person with sexist and racist supporters. And she has the full blessing of the school district and, of course, the teachers union.
According to ABC News, Shah is a teacher at Mission High School, and her lesson plan attracted the attention of the union who published the plan to its website for other teachers to follow. District spokeswoman Gentle Blythe didn’t resist the lesson in any way and only stated:
“Educators are entrusted to create lessons that reflect the California standards, support students’ social and emotional well-being and foster inclusive and safe school communities.”
Do “California standards” include bashing Republicans? Apparently so!
Shah didn’t intend for her personal lesson plan to be distributed citywide and only wanted her “Latino, African American, white, Muslim, and LGBTQ students” not to fear being targets of hate crimes now that Trump is president. She also doesn’t have a problem if her students use swear words to express their feelings:
“I know that they might curse and swear, but you would too if you have suffered under the constructs of white supremacy or experienced sexism, or any isms or lack of privilege.”
And when asked if there would be a “safe space” for students with Trump-supporting parents, Shah said, “They absolutely will be given safe space. They’ll be asked to explain, ‘how is he not racist?'”
Now, THAT sounds fair! I’m sure these liberal San Francisco students wrote anti-Obama lesson plans when he was elected. Oh, wait, no they didn’t. In fact, remember all of the gushing Obama anthems school teachers across the country made their young students sing?
