This flag-waving Marine just became your favorite runner in the Boston Marathon

What would you do if you only had one leg to stand on? Probably not run the Boston Marathon. But that didn’t stop this hero Marine from doing just that.

Staff Sergeant Jose Luis Sanchez served in Afghanistan in 2011 and lost the lower part of his left leg after stepping on an IED. Now, he uses a prosthetic to get around. Oh, and to run all 26.2 miles in the Boston Marathon… twice! (Last year he finished in under six hours.)

This year, Sanchez was running for the Semper Fi Fund, which provides “immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post-9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families.”

And how patriotic it was for him to cross the finish line waving the American flag? This man is a hero through and through.
