Ever feel like everyone’s a victim these days? Not Taylor Swift.
After a 51 year old radio DJ asked her to pose for a photo when she was 23, Taylor says he “grabbed my ass underneath my skirt… He “stayed latched on to my bare ass cheek as I moved away from him, visibly uncomfortable.”
She didn’t want to make a big deal out of things, so she and her mother reported him to the radio station… and moved on with their lives. They didn’t call the cops, they didn’t overreact. But then, the guy sued her. Of course he did. But she sued him right back… for $1. She didn’t want the money, she wanted to make the point that it’s not right for men to do this.
I LOVE how Taylor Swift didn’t back down during her sexual assault testimony. If you didn’t see it, Taylor was asked if she was critical of her bodyguard for not stopping this from happening. She responded, that no — she was not. Instead, she said, “I’m critical of your client sticking his hand under my skirt and grabbing my ass.”
I love it that during her “victim testimony,” she refused to be a victim.
When someone said she “could have taken a break in the middle of her meet-and-greet if she was so distraught” she responded beautifully. “And your client could have taken a normal photo with me.”
She went on to explain that she has a responsibility to her fans to be there — not off tattling on 51 year old jerks who don’t know how to act.
I love it that Taylor is not backing down, and showing American women what “strong” looks like.
