Sometimes you read things and can only respond, “Who knew?” That was my reaction when I read what Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said about hunting.
Facebook has been accused of a lot recently but siding with conservatives isn’t one of them. But he might have just found at least one way to win us over: a taste for backstraps that you’ve hunted down yourself!
Zuckerberg went live on Facebook sitting in front of two smoking grills and explained what he was doing:
“Things taste better when you make them yourself, and they taste doubly better when you’ve hunted the animal yourself. Whether you’re fishing for the salmon, or going hunting for a boar, that’s a big part of it. You feel more connected to what you’re doing, to what you’re eating, you cook it yourself, and it’s this whole experience.”
Of course, not everyone will “Like” what he had to say, and he should expect plenty of angry emojis from animal rights activists. The fact that he goes hunting also proves that he’s using firearms and THAT will surely make his anti-gun fans upset.
Plus, Zuckerberg is doing something I’m sure millions of his users don’t: go outside. People are missing out on the joys of being outside among nature. Zuckerberg said about hunting: “It’s a good way to feel connected to nature. I feel like if you’re going to eat meat, then you should be a part of getting [it] . . . You should get to know where it comes from.”
Well, color me shocked. I couldn’t agree more!
