Bushel Basket Removed Exposing Light From Eternity

Bushel Basket Removed Exposing Light From Eternity January 6, 2022

For much of recorded and unrecorded history, the eternal logos was hidden in the obscure bushel basket of eternity. Then around 2000 + years ago the non-material person known today as The Son, materialized himself in a bushel basket of flesh in our reality. This hidden light finally burst forth from interconnectedness of  the light bearer and finally shown brightly for all the world to see, wonder, and adore.

The light of the world was announced by the supernatural entities known as angels to some simple ordinary folk who were out late working taking care of their sheep, as they were shepherds. Like Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation they lit up the night sky, this particular one with the heavenly choir.

But it is not in the divine plan for all cosmic realties to be revealed by fantastic non-physical phenomenon. Some truths are revealed by natural  physical phenomenon that we can witness with the eyes of our bodies and not just the eyes of faith and philosophy. The light of the Star of Bethlehem made it known plainly to the wondering as they wondered magi that the light of the world had arrived. The Wise Men had  clearly seen and understood the workmanship of the star knowing it to lead to something worth bringing expensive gifts for.

Today as throughout church history there are earthly stars setting the world on fire, as they burn brighter than the sun, exposing us to The Son. One such star is known other then the leader of our church, the current pontiff,

Pope Francis

The Magi set out at the rising of the star. They teach us that we need to set out anew each day, in life as in faith, for faith is not a suit of armour that encases us; but a fascinating journey, constant and restless movement, ever in search of God.

In Jerusalem, the Magi ask where the Child is to be found. They teach us that we need to question, to listen carefully to the questions of our heart, of our conscience, for that is where God often speaks to us. He addresses us more with questions than with answers.

When they reach their destination, the Magi kneel down and worship the Baby. The journey of faith finds renewed strength only when it is made in God’s presence. Let’s not forget to spend time in adoration of the Eucharist, and allow ourselves to be transformed by Jesus.

The Magi defy Herod. They teach us that we need a courageous faith that is not afraid to challenge the sinister logic of power, and become seeds of justice and fraternity in societies where many Herods, even today, continue to slaughter the poor and innocent.

The Magi return “by another way” (Mt 2:12). They challenge us to take new paths. This is the creativity of the Holy Spirit who always does new things.  @Pontifex

As we begin the new year, may the stars that lead us to ponder and adore Christ shine in our sky. And may we listen and hear the angels singing us heavenly songs that lead us seek out the stable where Christ is laid.
