Saint Francis of Assisi
Catholic News Agency@cnalive (October 4, 2023) Pope Francis opened the Synod on Synodality’s three-week assembly with a call for the Church to face today’s challenges with a gaze fixed on God rather than “political calculations or ideological battles.”
Pope Francis@Pontifex (October 4, 2023) The #Synod serves to remind us of this: our Mother the Church is always in need of purification, of being “repaired”, for we are a People made up of forgiven sinners, always in need of returning to the source, who is Jesus, to reach everyone with his Gospel.

- “Praise God for all his creatures”. This was the message that Saint Francis of Assisi proclaimed by his life, his canticles and all his actions. Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight” (Lk 12:6). How can we not admire this tenderness of Jesus for all the beings that accompany us along the way!-LAUDATE DEUM

Father Jim Sichko@JimSichko (October 11, 2023) We need to acknowledge that too many critics of Francis speak from an anger that defeats itself and ends by being unjust. His commitment to the poor, his emphasis on mercy, his passion for accompanying the lost and alienated, and his willingness to reach out to the margins: all these things are gifts to the whole Church. They deserve our gratitude and praise. So does his teaching on issues like gender, the sanctity of life, and bioethics . . . much of which is ignored by the mainstream media.

Last Year I wrote…
Recently I started going to a Catholic Men’s group to enhance my spiritual life.
My wife this past Sunday made final promises as a secular Carmelite (OCDS).
She spends all day praying, doing house work while I’m at the nursing home doing whatever I need to do that day.
She doesn’t get involved in lame internet drama.
She doesn’t decide who is right with God and who isn’t.
She doesn’t bliber blab about how confusing and aweful the Pope is.
She simply tries to say her prayers and love her husband.
She takes her faith seriously and the Pope is not a scandal to her.
My father spent a good amount of time in prayer also.
Our Friend Jackson is thinking of joining a cloistered Benedictine monastery next year in Oklahoma.
I try to go to mass with my wife everyday and do the divine office, go to work and write this blog I get no commentary on.
I will keep writing regardless and try to find a way to pray more.
By the way…

Sometimes I feel like I’m just phoning it in with my Last Week in Life blog posts. I’m tired from lack of sleep. I got a CPAP machine but so far it has not made a difference. My mind feels frazzled. I’ve also been doing research on other writing projects. I’ve spent time with friends and my wife which occupy my time. I have to go to work. I feel that I don’t always put the quality I should into these posts. I would like to reconstruct the way I do them. Actually I would like to stop doing them cause they don’t seem great quality and it is sort of a project to do.
But I started doing it and I believe in completing what I started. Everytime I feel like I’m not going to finish I keep on going. It could be better but then again it is good enough.
The write lesson is that you can find the determination to keep going even when you feel like stopping or not going on. It’s good to finish the race and complete the goal you’ve started even when it is not as good as you might like it. The commitment will somehow pay off. Sometimes it is the time to sign off and begin something new. But then again sometimes it is good to finish what you started and make it complete. So I keep on writing at least till the end of the year. With that in mind…
