I just recently attended a memorial service for someone who died and was raised Catholic. I think they were anyway. They had a prayer service done by a Catholic priest regardless. I don’t think the deceased person attended church or lived out a Catholic life. He wasn’t wicked as far as I know and was a decent good guy who loved his family, friends and good music. Despite not being totally dedicated to the Catholic faith he was unofficially canonized... Read more

Back in 2020 when I first started my tenure as a writer at Patheos I wrote a few articles about all things Patheos.  I have written about my fellow Catholic bloggers several times but I have also written about and shared snippets from the various other Patheos channels in which the Catholic channel is only but one tiny fraction of the bigger picture.  I went out into the neighborhood and walked around to see who shared my cyberspace with me.... Read more

From David Mills on Facebook MELISSA LUCIO HAS UNTIL APRIL 27TH A sad post on this Easter Sunday, but the execution date for Melissa Lucio draws closer. Without a 30-day reprieve from Texas governor Abbot or a permanent one from the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole, the state of Texas will kill her on April 27th. The case against her is very bad. It is so bad that over half the state’s House of Representatives, including prominent Republicans, have... Read more

I’m sure every other Christian blogger out there who is more eloquent than me has already written something or plans to write something about Easter and what it means to them or in general. I feel like I shouldn’t keep my mouth shut about it though, because it is very important. This weekend is happy and sad at the same time. The only way I can articulate it is that it’s like music that makes you happy and sad at... Read more

Wilson was talking about being washed from sin, the importance of confession, the priesthood, and my wife being stuck in the kneelers. It is... Read more

“He [God] doesn’t promise our stories will make sense, but He does promise they’ll find their greater purpose if we’re patient.”- Father Stu As I was kneeling down on the kneeler during Holy Thursday Mass right before communion, my wife who is next to me kneeling says, “I’m Stuck.” Somehow she had managed to get her knee stuck between her kneeler and mine in the pew we were in. “How are you stuck”? I replied. “Behold! The Lamb of God... Read more
