Top 7 Bible Verses To Thank Volunteers

Top 7 Bible Verses To Thank Volunteers November 12, 2014

For your church or organization to run effectively, it’s likely that you will need volunteers to do a bit of the work. When budgets are down or there is more work than there are workers, that’s when volunteers are most effective. They can be such a great help, partly due to the fact that they probably enjoy and actually want to help, even though they don’t get paid. With that in mind, it is vitally important that you make the volunteers feel appreciated, loved, and valued for all the work that they do. This includes the volunteer who only puts in an hour a week, to the one who seems to volunteer as if it’s their full-time job. A great way to show them your appreciation is to give them a card or speak to them directly about how great of a job they have done. To make this even more meaningful, you can include some Bible verses! Here are the top 7 bible verses to thank volunteers.

Ruth 2:12 “The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”

Ruth was, essentially, a volunteer. After losing her husband, she had the opportunity to go back to Moab and find a younger man to marry. However, she voluntarily chose to stick with her mother-in-law, Naomi, and help her in any way she could. In chapter 2, she is gathering grain among the reapers in the field of Boaz, and gets noticed by him. In their conversation, Boaz replied with this verse. He knew she was a virtuous woman and great volunteer, so he expressed his appreciation!

2 Samuel 2:6 “And now may the Lord show kindness and truth to you. I also will repay you this kindness, because you have done this thing.”

The people of Jabesh Gilead didn’t have to bury Saul, yet they did so voluntarily. David, then, responds by letting them know how much they were appreciated for it. Not only does he tell them that the Lord will repay their work, he also says he will repay them for their kindness. Now that’s appreciation!

Romans 1:8 “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.”

Even if your volunteers aren’t known throughout the whole world, it’s possible that they are known in most of the church or organization that you are leading. If that’s the case (or even if it’s not), it’s still a great verse to show your appreciation towards them.

Philippians 1:3 “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you”

What better way to thank you volunteers than by letting them know you thank God for them and remember them often? It’s sure to make the volunteers feel extremely valued!

Bible Verses For Volunteers

Acts 20:35 “I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

As volunteers, they probably already known that it’s much better to give than to receive, but recognizing that you see that truth in them will make them feel extremely appreciated. As such, it is a great way to express your gratitude and thankfulness for their hard work and diligence.

Luke 6:31 “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.”

Tell your volunteers you’re thankful for them by recognizing how good of an example they are to others. Essentially, if everyone worked liked they did, the church or organization would be in impeccable shape!

1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Thank your volunteers by reminding them that, though they work extremely hard and are invaluable to you, they still must remember that their overriding goal for volunteering should be love. Without love, all they have is some good deeds done for some type of selfish ambition.

Conclusion

Without volunteers your church or organization is sure to fail. After all, people must complete the work or else nothing will get done! The volunteers sacrifice their time, energy, and sometimes even money in order to contribute to the success of wherever it is they’re volunteering, so make sure you are making them feel valued and appreciated! The list above is full of the top 7 bible verses to thank volunteers, but there are so many more that you can find within the pages of Scripture.
