Nicklaus in retirement
Until the advent of Mr. Donald Trump, Jack Nicklaus (shown above in 2006, after his retirement) was widely regarded as the greatest golfer in history.  (Wikimedia Commons)

Man in Black:  You’re that smart?
Vizzini:  Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
Man in Black:  Yes.
Vizzini:  Morons.

(From The Princess Bride)

My life has been about victories.  I’ve won a lot.  I win a lot.  I win — when I do something, I win.  And even in sports, I always won.  I was always a good athlete.  And I always won.  In golf, I’ve won many club championships.  Many, many club championships.”

Mr. Donald Trump, as quoted in the Washington Post

Mr. Donald Trump doesn’t share many specific policy ideas with us groundlings, but then, we don’t really need them:  He’ll make America great again by the sheer noble act of bestowing himself upon the nation.  In German, historically, this has been known as the Führerprinzip, or “Leader Principle.”

And, by the way, is Mr. Donald Trump really one of the great non-professional golfers of our era?  Or is he, even in so minor an area, merely a vainglorious boaster and a cheat?

At this point, Trumpists should pour another glass of Kool-Aid, close their eyes, put their fingers in their ears, and repeat, over and over and over again,  “Trump in 2016!  Trump in 2016!  Trump in 2016!  Trump in 2016!”  Non-Trumpists, however, might find that this item, on Mr. Donald Trump as flagrant golf cheat, provides yet another revealing look into the character of the man who would be our Leader.
