3. Men focus on quickly SOLVING issues and women find comfort in simply SHARING issues.
This simple difference has created some unintended conflict (or possibly hurt feelings) in most marriages. The man finds validation in being his wife’s defender and a problem solver, but the wife is simply looking for her husband to provide support, concern and encouragement and she shares a particular struggle. She needs a safe place to process and she’s likely to shut down when her husband immediately starts offering solutions. One simple way to resolve this possible tension is to ask each other, “As you tell me more about this, would you like for me to offer some ideas or do you just need me to listen?”
