1. Checking out other women is a sin. Jesus said that looking at a woman lustfully is actually a form of adultery. Even if you’re not a Christian, consider the wisdom in His reasons…
2000 years ago the world didn’t have internet porn, lingerie ads on TV or women walking around in tight yoga pants, but lust was just as big a problem then as it is now. It’s part of the human struggle, BUT Jesus wanted to make it very clear that just because something is tempting doesn’t mean it is justifiable. He wisely pointed out that sexual sin starts in the mind; not in the bedroom. As part of his broader teaching on the sacredness of sex, the exclusivity of marriage, the meaning of love, the dignity of women, the power of faith and the purpose of life, He dropped this bombshell on the audience listening to his Sermon on the Mount… “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:27-28). It’s an incredibly high standard, but He’s reminding us that marriage deserves our best and noblest efforts.
