The senseless slaughter of America’s finest continues. My heart was ripped out when I heard about the shooting of the two officers in Georgia. Americus officers Nicholas Smarr and his partner Jodi Smith were lifelong friends and were both killed together in the line of duty. There’s a host of reasons this keeps happening, but there’s one solution we can no longer overlook.

America went soft on crime. The second that happened, all hell broke loose and now we’ve gotten to the point where cops are targets. It’s because we let the pacifists take over. They pushed for rehabilitation and second chances for criminals with long histories of criminal behavior and that nonsense has crept into Washington where they’re pushing a sentencing reform bill and a criminal justice reform bill. But it’s that kind of philosophy that has backfired and given license to criminals who no longer fear swift and just punishments.

We used to be tough on crime, and it’s time to go back to the old way of doing things. We have to send a clear and convincing message to the criminal element that there will be swift and severe consequences to criminal behavior. Killing an officer of the law should be a capital offense, punishable by death. Period. And for states that don’t have the death penalty, the cases should be turned over to the federal court system to rule those convicted to be put to death.

That is the only solution sufficient enough to reduce criminal activity. I spoke about this recently on Fox & Friends. Click CONTINUE to watch the clip:
