Ordination update: history is made, with 3 new deacons in Westminster

Ordination update: history is made, with 3 new deacons in Westminster July 23, 2012

That would be in the United Kingdom.  The worldwide diaconate continues to grow, praise God.  This is the first class ordained in Westminister.

The three are shown above. Here’s an email I got this afternoon from Across the Pond:

Here’s three amigos. Anthony Curran who is the Director of Catechetics for the archdiocese of Westminster; me, Brian McMahon, a health and safety consultant; and NickAgule, an accountant with BP. Between us our average age is 45 and we average three kids. However, Nick’s got six of them! We were all duly ordained on Saturday 21 July 2012 for service in the archdiocese of Westminster. Archbishop Vincent [Nichols] is very commiteed to the vocation of the permanent diaconate and this is the first time that men have been ordained in the Cathedral for service as deacons, who are not from the seminary. Not quite as many as you might see in an American diocese – but we’ll get there!

Wonderful news.  Congratulations and welcome, brothers.  Ad multos annos!

You can see a gorgeous collection of photos right here.
