Here’s a video about the Heartland Institute’s recent conference, which happened shortly after those despicable billboards comparing those who accept global warming to serial killers and terrorists caused them to lose about half their funding. You’ll notice that it brings all manner of right wing kooks together — global warming denialists, creationists and birthers. And you’ll have a good laugh seeing Lord Monckton dressed like David Barton.
David Barton’s near perfect record of being absolutely irrational continues. On a recent radio show, not only did he declare that the Liberty University law school was one of the best law schools in the country (reality: it’s one of the lowest ranked by every measure), he also said that people are poor because they don’t read the Bible enough:
In this video, David Barton compares homosexuality to murder and other barbaric acts, and says that he doesn’t care what the Supreme Court says, being gay should be illegal in this country.
Rick Scarborough was on David Barton’s radio show making the idiotic claim that Gov. Rick Perry’s public prayers for rain were answered and God solved the drought in Texas because of it. Get a load of this exchange of stupidity:
Richard Thompson of the Thomas More Law Center, who did such a terrible job with the defense of the school board in the Dover case, was on David Barton’s radio show this week and predictably made some idiotic and bigoted statements. Like gay rights is going to “disintegrate” America.
Reacting to David Barton’s appearance on the Daily Show the other day, evangelical historian John Fea, who has been an outspoken opponent of Barton’s dishonesty, points out that his claim to be countering the argument that Thomas Jefferson was an atheist is a straw man:
I’m sure many of you watched the Daily Show the other day when Jon Stewart lobbed a few softball questions to professional liar David Barton and let him promote his book full of lies without putting up any resistance at all. It was a truly pathetic performance, as bad as the first time he had him on the show. Here’s the video:
Now that he has the nomination all but sewn up, some theocons are still having trouble supporting Mitt Romney. But others are embracing him, even if not enthusiastically, because he promises to appoint judges to the bench that they approve of. Like Bork. Or Alito.
