Bryan Fischer, apparently not content to promote his usual religious right craziness, is now promoting Peter Duesberg’s AIDS denialism. Duesberg claims that HIV doesn’t cause AIDS and that it’s actually caused by rampant drug use by gay people. And Fischer apparently agrees with him:
You knew Bryan Fischer would have something incredibly idiotic to say about the death of Christopher Hitchens and, sure enough, he delivers. He says God sent Hitchens to hell because he loves him so darn much. But remember, he’s way more moral than those evil atheists.
What is it with wingnuts not understanding that just because someone points out their stupidity and bigotry, that doesn’t mean they’re being persecuted? Bryan Fischer makes this asinine argument yet again when writing about the court ruling that the names of those who signed a petition against marriage equality can’t be withheld:
The next time someone claims that the left is inventing this crazy idea that many on the religious right seek to impose a theocracy on America, we need merely remind them of the existence of Bryan Fischer. He makes no bones about wanting to impose Biblical law:
Now this is hilarious. Bryan Fischer is simply verklempt at the notion that Mitt Romney would deliver even the incredibly mild rebuke of his extremist bigotry at the Values Voters Summit. He thinks it was downright rude and impolite of him to do so.
At the Values Voters Summit, Mitt Romney took a mild, very general shot at Bryan Fischer, without naming him by name:
The New York Times asked the Romney campaign to comment on the fact that he’ll be speaking immediately before Bryan Fischer, who says Mormons don’t have any First Amendment rights. The Romney camp did not reply. This is hardly surprising, of course. His advisers know the line he has to walk trying to appeal to those who listen to bigots like Fischer.
At the Crazy Wingnut Theocrat Values Voters Summit this weekend, Mitt Romney is going to speak immediately before Bryan Fischer, who recently declared that, as a Mormon, Romney has no freedom of religion. Of course, Fischer thinks no one but Christians has any freedom at all, so that’s not a surprise. But it could be a bit awkward.
