Rick Wiles of Tru News continues to show why, even by wingnut standards, he’s so far out on the lunatic fringe that he couldn’t see reality from Sarah Palin’s porch. On his show recently he claimed that President Obama is a Saudi intelligence agent. Come on Bryan Fischer, time to step up your game or you’re going to lose the title of the craziest right wing radio host (and look out for Kevin Swanson, who also wants your title).

As a huge fan of schadenfreude, it’s just so much fun watching the reactions from the religious right to the Supreme Court’s rulings on marriage equality. This will probably end up being several posts, but here are the first ones I’ve found as I bathe in the tears of the righteous:

This just in: E. W. Jackson, the Republican candidate for lt. governor in Virginia, is still an idiot. In an appearance on Bryan Fischer’s radio show he claimed that it was persecution for people to use his own past statements against him — and a violation of the constitution too!

There’s a new group called Reach America that is peddling the same tired old persecution complex that the religious right clings to like a life jacket in the ocean. They’ve put out a Youtube video with a bunch of teenagers asking questions that are utter nonsense, like “Why can’t I pray in school?” Uh, you can. No one is stopping you, as long as you don’t disrupt class or force others to take part or watch. Millions of kids pray in school every single day. And it goes on and on like that:

Late last week there were reports that military computers had blocked access to the website of the Southern Baptist Convention and, predictably, the wingnuts flew into a tizzy. Right Wing Watch has a rundown of the almost instantaneous declarations of grand conspiracies and oppression:

Rick Wiles of TruNews, a man so far off on the lunatic fringe that he makes Bryan Fischer seem almost sane, had Dr. Preston Bailey of the Spiritual Warfare Center on his radio show to explain how the Illuminati is bringing back the “pre-flood Luciferian government.”

As it becomes more and more clear that same-sex marriage is going to be a reality in this country no matter what the Supreme Court does, the Christian right is pulling out all the stops and ratcheting up their rhetoric to absurd levels. Mike McManus of Marriage Savers went on Bryan Fischer’s radio show and declared that gays want to “destroy the institution of marriage.”

One of the hallmarks of wingnuts is that no one but them is ever pure enough. It apparently isn’t enough that CPAC banned GOProud and other gay conservative groups from the conference, apparently, because even after doing that Cliff Kincaid and Bryan Fischer still claim they’ve been infiltrated by them:

I’d never heard about Project 2026 until this week, when its leader, Alex McFarland, appeared on Bryan Fischer’s radio show. The goal is stop the entirely fictitious cabal made up of gays, atheists, humanists and Muslims, who are allegedly working together to “secularize America.”

I poked fun recently of Ben Shapiro, one of the Breitbart.com editors, for his breathlessly idiotic story about “Senate sources” telling him that Chuck Hagel had received money from “Friends of Hamas,” a group that does not exist. Dan Friedman of the New York Daily News explains how this story came to be. It started as a joke he made.

Jerry Boykin, the disgraced retired general and now Vice President of the Family Research Council, in a staggering lack of self-awareness that would make Bryan Fischer smile, went on the 700 Club and told Pat Robertson that his organization hasn’t gone out of their way to homosexuals.

Jeremy Hooper points out something that I’d somehow missed while discussing the religious right’s claim to being the true heirs of Martin Luther King. He quotes a Tweet sent out by Bryan Fischer recently that said, “When it comes to the loss of civil rights, Christian is the new black.” He replies:
