Tom Coburn, the very conservative senator from Oklahoma, is stepping down and on Tuesday he was replaced by the even worse James Lankford, who is a serious fundie. The day after the election he went on the Family Research Council’s radio show and said that he would reduce the national debt through the Bible and prayer.
Alan Robertson, one of the family of duck-hunting douchebags that collectively don’t have the IQ of a pot roast, says that because of those quickly-withdrawn subpoenas in Houston, America reminds him of Nazi Germany. Oh, and Satan is attacking his family because they’re truth-tellers.
Richard Land, formerly a high-ranking official in the Southern Baptist Convention, has been filling in for Tony Perkins on the Family Research Council’s radio show and he wants you to know that he’s damn sick and tired of gay people shoving things down his throat. After the state of Kentucky hit a business for discrimination for refusing to serve a gay client, he said:

With people like Steve King, Michele Bachmann and Louis Gohmert in the House, it’s pretty difficult for another congressman to get noticed for saying incredibly stupid things, but Steve Scalise, a GOP House Whip, apparently thinks he’s up to the task. Here’s his latest bid for mention in the annals of stupid:
Craig James was a running back at SMU back in the early 80s, playing with Eric Dickerson. He then went on to be a college football analyst for ESPN and Fox Sports before being fired for saying really anti-gay things. Naturally, the Family Research Council declared him a martyr and hired him to do…well, something. Last week he guest hosted Tony Perkins’ radio show and revealed why analyzing football was about the limits of his abilities.
Jonah Goldberg, only the second most pathetic editor at the National Review (Rich Lowry seeing starbursts when Sarah Palin winked at him means he’ll never relinquish that title as long as he lives), went on Fox News and reacted to President Obama urging people to keep the Senate in Democratic hands for potential Supreme Court appointments. Here’s what Obama said:

Same for Gene Mills of the Louisiana Family Forum. On Tony Perkins’ radio show, they falsely claimed that non-discrimination ordinances have criminalized Christian speech.
As is so often the case, conservative talking heads are claiming that President Obama is being silent on an issue about which he has, in fact, spoken out several times. This time it’s the horrifying treatment of Christians by ISIS in Iraq, which they are pretending Obama hasn’t addressed at all. Here’s Mark Levin:
There is no idea so extreme and bizarre that Rep. Louis Gohmert won’t swallow it and promote it, so it’s hardly a surprise that when a caller on Tony Perkins’ radio show suggested that the Sandy Hook tragedy was part of a grand conspiracy, Gohmert was more than happy to entertain the thought.
For years, Christian right leaders have been warning that the trend toward legalizing same-sex marriage was going to cause a massive backlash of angry Americans, even going so far as to claim that it’s going to cause another civil war. A new poll pretty much destroys that idea.
A high school principal in Washington, DC came out as gay at a pride event last week and the Christian right is predictably flipping their collective lids over it. Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council says parents should pull their kids out of public schools.
