A caller to Tony Perkins’ radio show tried to talk a little sense into him on the subject of same-sex marriage, prompting Perkins to make the usual stupid arguments. If we give gays equal rights, he says, everyone will suddenly become and there won’t be a next generation!
President Obama last week made a strong public statement about the need to combat sexual assault, especially on college campuses, and appointed a commission to make recommendations for public policy. Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council says Obama “helped to create” the problem because…oh hell, I don’t know, just read it for yourself:

It’s fascinating to me to watch the Christian right come to terms with the fact that they’re so obviously losing the fight against LGBT equality. A couple weeks ago Tony Perkins claimed that they were winning the war on equality. Now Scott Lively says sure we’re losing, but in 2014 we’re gonna make a comeback!

Tony Perkins welcomed Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio to his radio show to talk about defunding Obamacare (he thinks, bizarrely, that the Republicans have a mandate to do so because of the 2010 elections). And Perkins came up with a brilliant idea: The House should defund Obamacare in order to pay for bombing Syria.

So you’ll also be demanding that the other conservative justices be impeached for overturning the Voting Rights Act, which passed nearly unanimously, right? Yeah, I didn’t think so. It’s only “legislating from the bench” when they disagree with the result.
