It seems that, yet again, Glenn Beck is convinced that he’s going to be killed sometime soon — and this time they’re going to kill everybody:
I know this will come as a shock to you, but Glenn Beck doesn’t know a damn thing about science or evolution and yet takes a bold position against them. Like most ignorant demagogues, he relies on the confusion between the colloquial definition of theory and the use of that term in a scientific context — and adds in a little empty sneering to make it sound more compelling to his virtually braindead listeners.
You have to see this video of Glenn Beck speaking in Israel, where he gives a very Jesus-like speech telling the audience that if they follow him they will be mocked and persecuted and quite possibly even killed. I’ve gotten death threats too, Glenn. Lots and lots of them. That doesn’t mean I’m right, it doesn’t make what I have to say important and it doesn’t make me the second coming of Christ. The same goes for you.
Seriously, Beck is starting to sound very much like a typical cult leader.
Glenn Beck is getting ready for his rally in Israel, where he says a pillar of fire may appear. Seriously.
Media Matters has put together a list of the 50 worst things Glenn Beck said on Fox News. And to give you an idea of just how batshit insane they are, his claim that empathy is what caused Hitler’s final solution isn’t even on the list. Imagine how crazy you must be if that one isn’t in your top 50. And here’s a video of some of his looniest claims.
Via RightWingWatch, the wingnut Eagle Forum of Phyllis Schlafly has gone all Glenn Beck on Arizona State University over a new video the school put out promoting their new sports uniforms and logos. At the end of the video a graphic is shown of a clenched fist morphing into ASU’s famous pitchfork hand gesture, long used as a symbol of their sports teams. And the wingnuts see this symbolism as commie propaganda:
Here’s Jon Stewart’s brilliant mockery of Glenn Beck as he says goodbye to Beck’s Fox News show.
Here’s a bit of bizarre ranting from Glenn Beck, being promoted by the Worldnutdaily:
“These problems, as you are beginning to see,” Beck said on his radio program this morning, “we are experiencing now the perfect storm, the beginnings of the perfect storm that I outlined to you years ago and now you can see how when I was talking about it and everybody was saying ‘Shut up! Who cares? It’s not going to happen.’
“You’re beginning to see it now and you can know why I was crying all the time. Because I saw this in advance. It doesn’t take a genius to do it. You can see it if you would just open your mind.”
This is kinda fun. Brannon Howse, leader of the Worldview Weekend group of really serious wingnuts, now says that Glenn Beck is a “new age Anti-Christ.” And the Worldnutdaily has the “exclusive” story:
A Christian author and national speaker has just released a video in which he flays radio and TV commentator Glenn Beck as a pagan, New Age “anti-Christ” who is deluding many believers away from the Bible’s teachings and leading them toward Eastern mysticism.
Brannon Howse of Worldview Weekend in Collierville, Tenn., who was once a defender of Beck, is now blasting the popular Fox News host based on content of Beck’s new book, “Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life,” co-authored by psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow.
I’m not sure who to root for here but I’m sure gonna enjoy the show.
Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs, who was kind enough to link to my post about Islam and Sharia law (thank you), hoists Glenn Beck on his own petard of symbolic insanity. He noticed Beck on his show ranting about a “clenched fist” logo being used for uprisings in the Middle East and he relates it to communists.
How crazy is Glenn Beck? So crazy that he’s caused Bill Kristol to have a momentary connection to reality:
Neoconservative columnist Bill Kristol called out conservatives, and in particular, Glenn Beck, for fear-mongering about the unrest in Egypt, saying that “when Glenn Beck rants about the caliphate taking over the Middle East from Morocco to the Philippines, and lists (invents?) the connections between caliphate-promoters and the American left,” he’s “marginalizing himself.”
Really? It took this for Kristol to think Beck is marginalizing himself? When he claimed that being empathetic leads to Hitler, that was fine, but this does it for Kristol?
A hilarious statement from Joseph Farah’s latest column, calling Glenn Beck out for various contradictions:
And few conservatives vying themselves for TV face time and access are willing to chide Beck when he needs it, because he is a celebrity of immense power and influence.
I guess that’s where I come in.
I guess that’s why God invented me.
I guess that’s the unique position He has bestowed upon me as someone who recognizes everyone needs accountability in their lives and also recognizes the danger of a movement dependent on charismatic celebrity leaders.
Yep. And I evolved specifically to tell everyone that you’re a moron.
