You knew this was coming. Glenn Beck repeatedly declared that only the election of Ted Cruz as president will save America from God’s wrath, so now that Cruz is out of the race he says that God has no choice but to punish the country for our terrible impertinence in not voting for the loathsome Cruz.
Now that Ted Cruz, the latest “next George Washington,” has dropped out of the Republican presidential race, Glenn Beck says he’s done with the Republican party and so should every conservative be. Again. Like he did last year before God appeared to him personally to tell him that Cruz can save the world.
Given all the time, money and hyperbolic rhetoric Glenn Beck put into supporting Ted Cruz for president, I was just dying to see and hear his reaction to Cruz ending his campaign. He did not disappoint. Tears in his eyes, he might as well have donned sackcloth and ashes in response to the impending doom and gloom.
Remember how Glenn Beck said that if Ted Cruz were elected president, he’d send his vice president to preside over the Senate and force them to support his agenda? Well he says he has spoken to Carly Fiorina, who shared the ticket with Cruz for about a week before he dropped out, and she loves the idea:
Poor Glenn Beck. He says incredibly dumb and loony things every day and then people make fun of him for it, and it’s just not fair. And as with most things, he reacts with apocalyptic hyperbole, declaring that making fun of him for asking people to pray and fast for Ted Cruz means America is “done.” Here’s what Beck initially said:

Beck hit the road to campaign for Ted Cruz again, this time in Indiana, which is probably Cruz’ last serious chance to prevent Donald Trump from getting 1237 delegates and a first-ballot nomination. He made a claim he has made before, that God has raised up Cruz to save the country, but then he said it was just like God raising up…Thomas Paine?
Glenn Beck’s Mercury Radio Arts, an umbrella company for all of his various businesses, seems to be crumbling fast. They’ve now laid off another 40 employees due to lack of revenue, and at least part of that is due to the fact that Beck is spending so much time campaigning for Ted Cruz.
Glenn Beck is totally in the tank for Ted Cruz and despises Donald Trump, so he predictably applies totally different standards to the two of them. Right Wing Watch catches a textbook example. He says that the fact that Trump did not know that the slogan “America First” originated pro-Nazi anti-Semites disqualifies him from being president:
There are few things more painful than watching someone who thinks they’re funny be really, really unfunny. Such is the case with Glenn Beck, who rather bizarrely decides to stick crushed Cheetos on his face in order to mock Donald Trump for being so orange. It’s just weird and uncomfortable.
It seems Glenn Beck is escalating his rhetoric to warp speed and beyond. No longer is he saying that if Ted Cruz is not elected, America will be no more. No, now he says that if Cruz is not elected, all human freedom anywhere on the globe will cease to exist.
Not for the first time, Glenn Beck is telling his followers that if Donald Trump is elected, he will have Beck arrested and his show shut down. And for some bizarre reason, he seems to think that President Obama has done that to his critics, but he was actually talking about whistleblowers.
