Like Glenn Beck, who says he doesn’t know any Christian conservatives who are anti-gay, Russell Moore of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission says he doesn’t know a single evangelical who supports the anti-gay law in Uganda.
Glenn Beck is nothing if not a good shill for scam companies like Goldline, one of his longtime sponsors. Discussing the situation in the Ukraine, which is devolving into chaos, Beck told his followers that they are the key to keeping that from happening here.
Glenn Beck delivered a weird rant on his radio show about how he’s just doing what God tells him to do and that God told him to “sit down and shut up” because he has huge plans for The Blaze that doesn’t make sense even to Beck himself. And it will lead to “miracles, absolute miracles.” Because he’s an agent for God himself, people. And he has no idea how pompous that makes him sound. Of course, Beck has routinely told his followers about a HUGE STORY he’s about to break that he never actually does, so take this with a metric ton of salt.
Glenn Beck went on a bizarre rant about technology, noting that the makers of the next Hunger Games movie plan to digitally recreate Philip Seymour Hoffman for a scene he didn’t finish before he died. That makes technology “authoritarian porn” and a sign of the impending fascism. Or something. See if you can make any sense out of this.
Recently, Justice Scalia spoke to a law school class and said that he wouldn’t be surprised if the courts would accept internment camps again during a time of war as they did with the Japanese in WW2 because the courts are reluctant to get involved in such situations (he said he would oppose this and that the Supreme Court was wrong in the Korematsu case to uphold it). Glenn Beck, please fire up the outrage machine and go on a ridiculous rant about how conservatives will soon be locked up for being anti-abortion and doubting global warming.
Glenn Beck apparently thinks that his old friend Ken Hutcherson, a former NFL player and exactly the kind of authoritarian, anti-gay bigot that Beck says he doesn’t know any of, helped the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl (Hutcherson played for the Seahawks long ago).
Glenn Beck came to the defense of Tom Perkins, the billionaire who made the deluded claim that we’re on the verge of killing the ultra-rich just like Hitler did the Jews, on his show. He even said that the criticism of Perkins, and the fact that his own company distanced themselves from his comments, is proof that he’s right. “We are Germany 1930,” Beck said. “You can deny it all you want, but the socialist revolution is here.”
A day after saying that he doesn’t know anyone who is anti-gay, Glenn Beck went on the virulently anti-gay Tony Perkins’ radio show and told him that his Blaze network should be on cable because he believes in miracles, but that “other forces at work that aren’t necessarily earthly forces that would like to see voices silenced.”
Right Wing Watch points out the fun when Glenn Beck goes on “an extended monologue on his radio show that quickly degenerates into an incoherent stream-of-consciousness jumble of whatever talking points happen to be floating around in his head.” He notes that there is no Hebrew word for retirement because, in nature, older animals are just eaten. It’s really weird.
Glenn Beck seems to have developed an almost supernatural ability to torture an analogy until it screams. In this hilariously idiotic rant, he claims that Obamacare violates the separation of church and state because it’s the “tithe” you pay to the “church of man.” It’s a serious WTF screed.
Glenn Beck now puts video of his morning staff meetings online, which is often quite amusing as his staff smiles and nods while he rants incoherently. Last Thursday he told them that the ATF has now switched the departments that lick stamps and do background checks for guns in order to gum up the works and delay gun licenses.
I have always been baffled by the claim that our laws are based on the Ten Commandments. This is a claim that can only be made by someone who is either a liar or hasn’t bothered reading them. Glenn Beck is the latest to make this absolutely ridiculous claim.
