I do enough bashing of Glenn Beck, let me give some credit where credit is due. He’s come out very publicly and strongly against Russia’s anti-gay law, calling it “really, really disturbing” and saying that everyone, including the churches, should be opposed to it. But he’s wrong when he says it “isn’t a gay issue, it’s a human issue.” It’s a gay issue because it’s gay people only who are being targeted. There’s a lot of crap in this clip, but bravo for saying that law is wrong.
Right Wing Watch has a great deal of fun chronicling Glenn Beck’s inanity on a daily basis, so they’ve compiled a long list of the whacky and ridiculous things Beck said in 2013. It’s quite a list, full of pathos and fury and much weeping and grandiosity.
When Glenn Beck gets going on one of his stream-of-consciousness rants, the results are simply bizarre. In this video, he says the country is going to be reborn. And it couldn’t happen before because “God didn’t have anyone to entrust the country to, until now.” And now he does because Beck is leading the way. Or something. It’s just weird.
There are few things funnier than when Glenn Beck gets his undies in a bunch and starts yelling and screaming into the microphone. He went off on one of his classic rants, literally screaming about Obama’s “Marxist propaganda bullcrap.”
If you have to declare yourself to be a hero, it’s a pretty clear sign that you haven’t done anything heroic or not. On his show recently, he went off about how his children and grandchildren can be proud that he so bravely fought against the overwhelming forces aligned against him. It’s really quite an amusing bit of hubris.
A warning to my Canadian friends: Glenn Beck, who thinks Obama is a “Marxist revolutionary” on the verge of killing millions of people, says he is giving serious thought to moving to Canada to escape the impending tyrannical dictatorship that will almost certainly hunt him down and throw him in jail or kill him. But wait, isn’t this the same person who claims that national health care, which Canada has and we don’t even after the Affordable Care Act, is the second coming of Nazism because empathy leads to Hitler?
Glenn Beck, who absurdly claims to dismiss conspiracy theorists, is always on the lookout for anything with the word “progresssive” in it. He’s found progressive dishwashers, progressive paint and even a crayon named for Woodrow Wilson. It’s all part of a grand conspiracy to “embed” liberalism in everything. I’ve promised to try not to use words like “insane” and “crazy” to describe Beck and his ilk, but it’s really difficult to do. It’s just such an easy shorthand for these claims that are so utterly detached from reality.
Glenn Beck has been showing video of his daily staff meetings and they are hilarious exercises in self-aggrandizement. Here’s one where he declares himself a brave hero for giving the people hope in the face of his inevitable arrest or even murder by….well, he doesn’t say by whom. Them, I’m sure, the ever present Them. I wonder how many of his employees are secretly rolling their eyes while hearing these narcissistic declarations.
On a recent show, Glenn Beck started daydreaming about his perfect presidential administration. Get this: President Ted Cruz, Vice-President Rand Paul, Treasury Secretary Ron Paul and Secretary of State Louis Gohmert. Jesus. I wouldn’t leave the country, I’d leave the planet.
Responding to the shooting at the Washington Navy Yard, Glenn Beck says, “It seems like a lot of things that are going on in today’s world can’t really be explained any other way. We have come unhinged.” Well, some of us have. You most especially, Glenn. I especially like how he compares the Colorado floods to the Biblical flood. There’s one obvious difference — the Colorado floods actually happened.
Glenn Beck declared on his radio show recently that if Mitt Romney had been elected president, he might also be looking at military action in Syria (and given that all his advisers were neo-cons, he’s probably right), “because, in the end, we all found out that he was the progressive.” Now contrast that with what he was saying during the election last year:
The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who display a staggering lack of self-awareness, continually accusing their opponents of their own worst traits. And at this point, we might as well call it the Bryan Fischer – Glenn Beck Award.
