80% of India’s 40,000 million tons of UNTREATED Sewage flows into the rivers DAILY! March 5, 2013

India’s rivers are a mess.  They have become sewages for most of their stretch now.  It is not only the water IN the river, but the water that seeps into the ground that is even more dangerous.  This seepage will ensure the death of not just this generation but coming many generations!

Eighty percent of sewage in India is untreated and flows directly into the nation’s rivers, polluting the main sources of drinking water, a study by an environment watchdog showed Tuesday.

Indian cities produce nearly 40,000 million litres of sewage every day and barely 20 percent of it is treated, according to “Excreta Does Matter”, a new report released by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE).  “The untreated waste dumped into rivers seeps into groundwater, thereby creating a ticking health bomb in India,” concludes the report.

Although by the Chinese Government media, the report nevertheless is a very accurate description of where we are going.
