Nano Satellite from IIT Kanpur Students

Jugnu is getting ready. It is a nano satellite that students from IIT-Kanpur are building for a launch end of this year. In a special program now, ISRO (The Indian Space and Research Organisation) is working with IIT-K to bring in talent to bear upon the space program.

The IIT-K students will also work with ISRO on the Chandrayaan mission. The next phase of the unmanned moon mission is scheduled for launch in 2011/2012.

The satellite will weigh around 7-9 kg and will be placed in the polar orbit between 700-800 km from earth. It will carry high resolution cameras to get images for information on flood, drought, and disaster management.
