Tim Gombis’ The Drama of Ephesians

Tim Gombis’ The Drama of Ephesians October 9, 2011

I’m teaching through the book of Ephesians in College Ministry at our church. In preparing for the talks I decided to read my friend Tim Gombis’ book The Drama of Ephesians: Participating in the Triumph of God.

Tim, you’ve written a really good book! After getting home in the mid-to-late evening tonight I found myself not tired enough to go to bed. Karla is out on a flight this evening so, I’m not anxious to go to bed. I decided to read a little of Tim’s book and an hour later I still haven’t put it down. The book combines excellent exegetical insight with relevant thinking about incorporating Paul’s teaching into our lives today.

Tim’s section on the “powers and authorities” is especially good and it is a bit of NT teaching that is not often explained in a way that lay folks can easily grasp or have an appreciate for. This book will not only revolutionize the way you read Ephesians, but also the way you read Paul. And it will do more. It will transform the way you think about what it means to be a Christian in our contemporary world.

Way to go Tim, for giving us a really useful book!

Also, I googled “Tim Gombis images” and saw this one that compares Tim with Steve Carell. So great! I had to use it!
