I confess, I am in love with Herve Leger bandage dresses. Unless your living in a fashion-less cave, (po thang) you’ve seen one of these little numbers. Because as you know, “anyone who is anyone” in Hollywood has worn Herve’s bandage. And that’s not why I love them. I love them because they are frickin beautiful. And because they come in every color, every color combo, short, long, haltered, strapless & crossed. Oh my.
The first time I knew I had to have a bandage dress was when I saw Lindsay’s multi-colored number. Haute! If your in suspense as to how this blog will end, no, I didn’t get one –or even a Perve Bledger replica.
Anyway, every time I think they are going out, more celebs keep showing up with yet a new variation of bandage...
Another confession? In the back of my mind, I, well, I, well, I felt that I was a little to big for a bandage dress –that is, on the one-in-one-millionth shot I could ever find one for a reasonable price on ebay or something.
It seems like my womanly parts are a little to big & my hips & my rolly belly, etc. After all, who looks like Micha (see right) in a bandage dress unless of course you are a size 0 like Micha? Well, I am sad to say that I thought this way, because Mo’Nique went ahead & proved me so wrong!
Mo’Nique wore a bandage dress to the 2009 NAACP Image Awards last week… (sorry couldn’t find a bigger pic)
The famously happy-to-be-plus-size actress/comedienne sported her red version proudly.
I share this with you, not only because I love her look, but because it seemed like such a nice gentle reminder for all of us to be who we are, and wear what we want to wear & to try to be a lot less worried about who thinks we are too big or too little or to light or to dark or whatever.
I’ve been considering a nose ring for over 1.5 yrs! Mostly, I’m worried about what others will think. What do you think? Should I go for it? I may never get Herve, but I could get a little tiny fake diamond stud in my sniffer.
drool…
