Christmas Miracles

Christmas Miracles December 20, 2009

Christmas Miracle #1:

We got a tree up!  “What type of miracle is that?!” you say.  I’ll tell ya.  Dave & I have been married for 9 Christmases now & this only our 3rd time putting a tree up.  There is something about the busyness of December & the details of the task that make it, well, just plain old overwhelming for us.

The 2nd time it went up it didn’t come down until the next August. It took many months of befuddled guests asking, “why is your Christmas tree still up?”

This year, our very sweet 4 year old, Ransom kept bugging us, “Mama, why are we the only ones in the whole world who don’t have a Christmas tree?”  That’s what did it for me.

And to the left you can see I even put out our nativity scene :)

Christmas Miracle #2:

Dave has annual or biannual get togethers with 5-6 of his friends from high school usually between Thanksgiving & Christmas.  I think it’s pretty sweet that after all these years -16 years to be exact- they still make time for each other.  Last Friday night the whole gang with all their wives, girlfriends, fiance’s, babies, etc. got together.  Would you believe me if I told you I remembered to bring my camera but got no pictures?  Arrghghh.  You also probably won’t believe that even though the get together was 1 1/2 hrs away, and even though we have a nursing infant and an toddler –we were on time!  (That was a miracle in and of itself).  It was good food & great fun.

Christmas Miracle #3:

Though I’ve been fighting off a cold for 4-5 days I was still able to have a great weekend.  Starting off the mini high-school reunion (see above).  On Saturday, we were able to -miraculously- clean our entire house, do the tree & entertain guests all while juggling the boys.  And I’m not talkin’ about no fru-fru cleaning –it was downright disgusting.  So disgusting, in fact, I can’t even show you the ‘before’ picture.

Christmas Miracle #4:

I was able to juggle two newborns!  Our good friends Patrice & Kenny came over with their new bundle of joy, Kennedy.  Patrice & I were pregnant together and due within 5 days of each other…

At Patrice's baby shower, both of us ready to POP! :)

Winifred Kennedy Joyce was born exactly a week after our little Reesey-Bear.

Since we have all ready arranged their nuptials we thought it’d be cute to get some baby pics of them together for their reception slide show…

Well, first he fell over onto her…

IMG_8916and while Patrice, Nosa, Dave & I were cracking up at that, they both fell over…

IMG_8915…and we laughed some more…

Then Rhys kept bopping Kennedy in the face…

IMG_8917…and finally after all that we got a really cute one…

IMG_8908Later that evening Kennedy’s parents got a night out while I held down the fort with the two munchkins.  It went like this:

-Rhys asleep / Kennedy awake

-Kennedy asleep / Rhys ready to eat

-Rhys eating / Kennedy dozed.

-Kennedy ready to eat / Rhys dozing.

-Rhys back asleep / Kennedy done eating / Kennedy cried / Rhys awake

-That whole thing again but opposite…

IMG_8954Finally at about 11:30pm they were both sleeping peacefully in my lap…

IMG_8955Oh, what a night!  Kennedy is so beautiful & such a joy to be around. 🙂

Our little Christmas miracles.

Christmas Miracle #5:

Dave gave me a kid-free day of rest.  Despite how well last night went, I woke up feeling the worst I’ve felt in the 5 days since I’ve been trying to toss this pesky little common cold to the side. I.E. killer head-ache, sore throat out of this world & nose that runs faster than Usain Bolt.  I went to back to bed at 10am & stayed there until 4pm.  Dave would bring Rhys in to nurse & come back for him in 20 minutes.  My hero!  I feel a bit better right now, but not much.  It’s back to bed I go.
