Searching for God Knows What

Searching for God Knows What April 29, 2010

I’m pretty excited that my bliggity-blog was accepted into BookSneeze.  From now on, in exchange for my 2 cents in an honest book review they’ll be send me the free books of my choosing.  Booyah! 🙂  It’s a definite win-win!

_233_380_Book.197.coverMy first book is one I’ve been wanting to read for awhile: Searching for God Knows What by Donald Miller.  Apparently, he revised the book and reworked the cover even though it was all ready a best-seller.  Mmmm?  Can’t wait to dig into it.

Donald Miller is the one who wrote Blue Like Jazz: Non-reglious thoughts on Christian Spirituality which is one of my top five books of all time.  Potentially, in the top 5-10 of the most life changing books of mine.  I love his writing style and I identify strongly with his particular vulnerabilities.  I felt like I got a window into his soul and it looked a lot like my grimy window.

We never met, and he made me empathize with him.  Care for him. Love him.  Now that’s the power of a great author.

When I read it in the summer of 2008 it jolted me into realization in two ways:

1.  God freaking loves me.

2. I realized I could write too, & his book inspired me in BIG ways.

Needless to say, I’m eager to get through this book & post my review here.  After all, it’s been way too long since my last book review. It’s not that I haven’t been reading any books since June 7, 2009…

…it’s that I haven’t been finishing them.  I also spent most of last year whizzing through the 7 incredible Harry Potter Books which I didn’t want to review again because how many different ways can you say that you love the books, you adore the books, they add to your life, you laugh, you cry and you can’t imagine what the world will be like without Harry Potter?
