I went back and forth on attaching the ‘Minister’ moniker to my Minister Mama blog title.  I grew up with bad connotations when I heard the word Minister or Clergy.  Everything from: lame, boring, collar-wearing dorks who couldn’t marry, are likely depressed, don’t have sex, molest folks & hate black folks. It was R2’s turn to experience the haircut from Daddy in which he took far too long, ended in tears and left Mama begging for Daddy to “please just stop” because what 15 month old needs a perfect haircut? Of course Daddy was overcompensating trying to prove that he really can cut hair because it was only a mere two weeks ago when he jacked up Mama’s edgy Rihanna mohawk. (more…) Read more

The other day, R1 (my sensitive 5 yr. old) mentioned we “should go over to Haiti and get one of those kids to bring home with us!” Since R1 loves to pray for Haiti and frequently asks how they are doing, I often read to him email updates I get from World Vision. I must admit, our fam ran out and bought 12 gallons of water.  The hubs prepared an emergency kit with flashlights, canned food and other life-saving contraptions.  I couldn’t be bothered with it but the hubs and I are on TOTALLY different levels when it comes to emergency preparedness.  One day, he says, I’ll be completely caught off guard and I’ll realize he was right all along.
