My son, Ransom has the word happy confused with being awake.  So, if he’s not tired (when of course he is) he’s “happy.”  Check this out…. only about the 10th video I have of him falling asleep while eating. Read more

health nut I am not. I’ve yet to make New Year’s resolutions which usually include some sort of hope-against-hope dream that I’ll suddenly get my life together & start eating healthy & run with glee to the nearest gym 5x’s a week. Other years, it’s worked.  I’m a mostly active person.  For crying out loud I ran a marathon.  I participated in a grueling 12 week body building competition (which might I add, I lost & it took the wind... Read more

Before Ransom there was Little Jerri Seinfeld, named for Kramers’ fighting rooster on the show Seinfeld, but spelled with an “i’ to accomodate for the fact that we thought we had adopted a boy cat who turned out to be a girl after Dave realized her nipples were not pimples. And then there is Putty –or David Putty.  Named after Elaine’s boyfriend, Putty who most favorite line on the show was, “high five,” to which Jerry always left him hanging.... Read more

i made them dress in black/white so I could stand out! 🙂 I invited a small group of 16 of my closest girlfriends over for a dinner, dancing, Wii playing, girl movies & a desserts galore extravaganza!  I even evicted my husband & son for the night so we could be free to be loud & obnoxious until 4am if we wanted to. Well, of course being the talkative mugs that we are we did nothing other than talk for several... Read more

…because I think it saved me some misery yesterday! Ran & I were headed downstairs to my basement.  He was wearing his sleep-sac, & being afraid he may trip & fall I faced him to ask if I could carry him down.  “No!  I’m a big boy,” was his reply & as I turned to go down all by my doggone self I somehow lost my footing and started slipping down the stairs!  May I add, I too was wearing... Read more

I played Wii for a few hours at my friends house the other day & I am still sore!  My word, it’s depressing to be this out of shape! Speaking of games… Yesterday, I got to play 9 combined hours of Settlers of Catan –with the Traders & Barbarians variants, with our friends Ryan & Joy.  It was freaking awesome.  If you never rocked out on Settlers of Catan YOU MUST!  It may just be the best board game ever.... Read more

Last week my Uncle Fred passed away just one day shy of his 50th wedding anniversary.  Just before that one of my friends Auntie Kay-Kay succumbed to cancer after a 3-year battle.  And not long after that a friend of a friend that I grew up with passed away leaving 3 young girls behind. I haven’t experienced much death in my life.  Dying-death, that is.  What I have experienced is death of a relationship due to abuse.  The death of... Read more

There are 2 major InterVarsity Conferences -Urbana & Atlanta- which happen to fall between Christmas and New Years Day every 2 out of 3 years.  For this reason, I have to work and only get to celebrate my December 30th birthday once every 3 years.  Though Atlanta is happening as you read, I, Grace Biskie am on Sabbatical.  Hurrah!  Or…as Ransom would say “yee-haw!” It was a great day… Shopping at Kohls for $3-$5 sweaters – $20 total. Receiving a... Read more

I meant to do this post on Christmas.  I’m a loser, forgive me. Coming into Christmas this year has been different.  I haven’t been involved in the rat race like usual to secure year end funding (a major part of my job) since I am on Sabbatical. Also, I’ve had a few days to rest after the semester was over and think about things, journal a bit, read Scripture and pray.  And I don’t like what I see, actually. For... Read more
