The harsh truth of the blogwatch eye

Telling you more than you ever wanted to know…

Yale’s unions: an exercise in self-parody. Yale President Richard Levin = Pharaoh! This little news item would be funny if it weren’t real. Very Nietzschean–Christianity as a cover for pure, sweet ressentiment.

Apparently, the teens jailed for the “wilding” attack on the Central Park jogger are innocent. Link via Body and Soul, though I’m not totally sure what she means and whether I can agree when she says this news vindicates her “bleeding heart.” It vindicates my beliefs that railroading happens; that the criminal justice system screws up; and that it screws up, especially, against inner-city minority teenage boys; and that we absolutely need to work to find ways of un-screwing-up the system as much as possible. That’s part of what I hope to do as a journalist, by providing a) scrutiny and b) suggestions for improvement. (See two posts down.) All of these things seem fairly obvious. If that makes me a “bleeding heart,” the term has a more elastic usage than I’d thought… but whatever, that’s hardly the most important thing to say about this. Go read the WaPo and B&S; links.

The Old Oligarch has a great post with recommendations on Biblical interpretation.
