convention coverage will continue throughout the rest of the week, but
as the excitement builds about this evening, check out the Wall Street Journal from this weekend, which has continued coverage of how the party is "showing its religious side."

8/25 6:59a CT [ Convention Coverage ] NPR is running a great story this morning that describes how: "Each evening of the convention will be punctuated by an invocation and
a benediction by religious leaders, including a rabbi from Washington,
D.C., a Catholic nun from Ohio and a Greek Orthodox archbishop from New
York. There will be other faith-based panels, too, geared toward
spiritual discussion. One is titled 'Faith in 2009: How an Obama
Administration will Engage People of Faith.'"

8/25 6:43a CT [ Convention Coverage ] The Rocky Mountain News tells about Rev. Leah Daughtry's message: "With all due respect to the commentators, we don't need to bring
faith to the party. Faith is what we live. Democrats are, have been, and will continue to be people of faith.
And people of faith are, have been, and will continue to be Democrats."

8/26 7:09a CT [ Convention Coverage ] The Dallas Morning News has an opinion piece about Obama's outreach to faith communities, which cites this evidence from the Calvin College's Paul B. Henry Institute for the Study of Christianity and Politics: "Only eight years
ago, 50 percent of mainline Protestants (Methodists, Presbyterians,
Episcopalians, etc.) considered themselves Republican, while only 32
percent identified as Democrats. Now, after eight years of the
Bush-base strategy, the numbers have flipped. Forty-six percent of
mainliners consider themselves Democrats and only 37 percent
Republicans."
