Matisyahu Did a Lot More Than Shave Off His Beard

A few weeks ago, when Hasidic reggae singer Matisyahu ditched his beard, it was a big shift in his career and personal paths. But he did a lot more than simply give up Orthodoxy – according to the Forward, Matis has moved from New York to L.A. and is pursuing an acting career. His first role is as a rabbi in the horror movie The Possession, which comes out in August and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick. That doesn’t mean he is ditching music completely, though – his new album is called Spark Seeker, but it does not have a release date or known label yet.
