Tell us a bit about Spring Arbor University (include where it’s located, courses it offers, popular faculty members, etc.)

Spring Arbor University is Christian private university located in south-central Michigan.  It was established in 1873 and has more than 4000 enrolled students offering 70 undergraduate majors and programs, 9 degree completion programs, and 12 graduate programs.

When did you start to offer SAU programs online?

SAU began offering online courses in 2006.

What part does the Christian faith play in an SAU education?

College-bound students have to consider an array of claims as they try to decide the best personal fit.  Everyone claims to be the best.  Even popular magazines get into the mix claiming who is the best.  What is it that would make Spring Arbor University rise to the top?

Every SAU educator a student interacts with are experts in their content but these educators have an additional motivation to do their work with excellence – the call of Christ on their lives.  Relationships are an important part of any educational experience.  Anyone can be assured they will experience a nurturing leaning environment at SAU because of the part the Christian faith plays in an SAU education.

What programs are offered online at Spring Arbor University?

  • Masters of Art in Special Education

How are SAU online programs delivered?

SAU Online has 6 starts per calendar year (2 in the Fall term, 2 in the Spring term, and 2 in the Summer Term)

Courses run 7 weeks with a 1 week break between start dates called a 7-1-7 model of delivery.  There a few intensive courses that run the full 15 weeks.  These courses start on at the beginning of Fall, Spring or Summer only.

Courses are designed so students can enter into a program at any of the 6 start dates of a year.

What kind of support do your online students receive?

Building community is as important as content is as true for online as it is for face-to-face.  The additional motivation our online instructors have to do their work with excellence because of the call of Christ mentioned above is evidenced by how we design safe and cohesive learning spaces where online students can openly share while learning and receive the individual instructor attention they need.

From a structure standpoint, we offer several support and resources -throughout a student’s program they will be provided with a circle of support to guide them through their program ranging from your faculty, academic advisor, student success advisor, and even helpdesk/IT as well as our online library.

What advice do you have for professionals looking to advance in their careers?

Any university can give professionals the content knowledge they need.  If you truly want to advance your career, look for an educational experience that can help nurture a caring world view along with exceptional content knowledge.

What makes Spring Arbor University different from other universities offering online degree programs?

We care!  We care about you.  We care about the world we live in.  We care about the world we will leave our children.  We care that every SAU online student achieve the calling God has for each and every one of us.
