The following YouTube video features an interview I did on my landmark book, Insurgence: Reclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom. The conversation highlights my passion for deeper biblical truth, spiritual reality, and the transformative power of the “gospel of the kingdom.”
The gospel of the kingdom still must be reclaimed today as most Christians, including pastors, don’t know what it is. It’s the “hidden obvious” of the biblical narrative, yet it’s the message that Jesus, Paul, and the other apostles proclaimed.
Core Themes of Insurgence
The book deconstructs distorted views of God’s kingdom, contrasting three gospels: legalism (performance-based favor), libertinism (license under grace), and the true gospel of the kingdom. The book portrays Jesus as an “insurgent,” launching a revolution against worldly systems, including the systems of religion.
This high-octane gospel fosters radical devotion born of love, not guilt, religious duty, shame, and condemnation.
