In Finding Organic Church, I explore how Paul deliberately mentored, coached, and apprenticed his younger coworkers in Ephesus for a period of three years. Essentially, Paul repeated what Jesus did with the Twelve in Galilee in what A. B. Bruce called “the training of the Twelve.” The main difference is that Paul trained eight people instead of twelve. Interestingly, during the time that Paul trained these eight coworkers to carry on his work, he paid for their needs. Rather than taking... Read more

To get a discount on this amazing Bible software, GO HERE. This is it: The year you’re going to do deeper, more engaging Bible study. Oh, and it’s also the year you’re going to spend more time with family, exercise five times a week, consume vast amounts of kale, start writing that novel, and, if there’s time, achieve world peace. While you’re pretty much on your own with the majority of these resolutions (especially that kale one), there is a... Read more

In the 78th episode of my podcast, I share my reflections on Bono’s statements about Jesus that I posted on the blog recently. If you’re new to the podcast, be prepared to hear a few “commercials” sprinkled into the episode (we have to keep our sponsors happy, you know . . . Cough). The podcast ends with a (comical) blast from the past. You can listen to the podcast in one of three ways (below): iTunes Podbean (Stream) RSS Feed Read more

Michael Hyatt (former CEO of Thomas Nelson) once responded to a rumor on his blog. In the post, Michael wrote, “According to the most recent rumor—which I’ve now heard twice—we [Thomas Nelson] are planning a layoff for June 19th … There is absolutely no truth to it … If you hear this rumor, I would be grateful if you would help me short-circuit it. You can tell ’em it’s not true, and you heard it directly from me.” I recall... Read more

Recently, one of my good friends was defamed in a blog comment by a person who professes to be a believer. Of course, the Blog Manager didn’t approve the comment. But it inspired this post. The next time you hear someone slam a fellow Christian or put them in a bad light, ask them: Do you personally know the person you’re slamming? And what was his/her response when you shared your accusations with him/her over coffee? You’ll quickly find that... Read more

Love him or loathe him, Donald Trump is a force of nature. Whatever can be said of him either negative or positive, the man is dramatic. Especially during interviews. But there is one man who trumps Trump. He first made his appearance on the 100th episode of my podcast. That’s when he first called in and the world discovered him. Then, my blog subscribers voted him in to have a full and exclusive interview with me in studio. And on... Read more

Beware those who confuse what they believe God WANTS with what God WILL DO. False prophetic words cannot be justified. Ever. Period. There are many so-called “prophets” who predicted a Trump second term. And now, instead of apologizing, they are blaming God’s people. I wrote about this specific problem on December 3, 2020 in “Prophetic Nonsense” – you can read it HERE. If you find it helpful, share it. Read more

In 1 Corinthians 1, Paul calls Jesus Christ the Wisdom of God. Jesus is the incarnation of wisdom. In Ephesians 3, Paul uses the phrase, the manifold (which can be translated “many colored”) wisdom of God. Jesus Christ, the embodiment of wisdom, is multi-colored. That means that Christ reveals Himself in infinite variety, because His riches are “unsearchable” and His fullness cannot be exhausted. The following images portray 5 different shades of Jesus as told by five different women who found Him in a unique way, each... Read more

Those who have read my books Revise Us Again, Jesus: A Theography, and From Eternity to Here, are aware that those who follow Jesus Christ are not under the Law. Instead, we’ve been given the Spirit of the living God who fulfills the Law in and through us. Consequently, the ceremonial laws of the Old Testament era have been done away with in Christ. The New Testament is clear that those laws were merely “shadows” pointing to Jesus. That said,... Read more
