Friends, we just launched the 5th episode of the new INSURGENCE podcast. In every episode, my partners and I answer your questions about the explosive gospel of the kingdom. And what God’s people should know about the kingdom. Yes, we take dead aim at many sacred cows in the process. You can listen and subscribe using your favorite podcast app (search for The Insurgence Podcast) or just go here to view them all.     Read more

Recently, I was asked to refer people to any female Christian authors who are known for writing on (and speaking on) the deeper Christian life. Those who are familiar with my work know that this is the genre in which I write and speak. (God’s Favorite Place on Earth, Jesus Manifesto, and From Eternity to Here have been called deeper Christian life books by reviewers, as well as the conference messages Epic Jesus and Living by the Indwelling Life of Christ.)... Read more

Soon, we’ll turn our heads and Christmas will be upon us. That said, The Nativity Story (DVD) is well worth watching. While it doesn’t match the Gospel story perfectly, overall, it’s pretty close. The acting is great as well. I also appreciate how they depict Joseph. As with movies of this sort, I lost half my body weight weeping through it. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should. Now on to Christmas songs. My all-time favorite Christmas song, hands down, is this... Read more

This post was written by Stephen Marshall. — For non-Christians, pornography is often seen as a rite of passage into adolescence. Most people come across porn during their teenage years, primarily in a clandestine manner from their friends. Almost every generation has had its own means of titillation, ranging from Playboy and other such pornographic magazines, to comics to porn books of the older generation to the more readily available internet pornography of the current age. While the availability of... Read more

If you’ve ever heard the Christmas story retold or watched it dramatized on film, you may not have realized how many myths were added to the story found in the Gospels. Read more

I stopped using Instagram in January 2018 because the visibility was horrible and it wasn’t moving the needle on my mission. I still have an account, but I no longer post new images. The old images and memes are still available if you wish to view them. Here is a guest article by Jana Wilson about the use of Instagram by Christians. Enjoy! fv — As a good Christian, you just want to do your part to make this world... Read more

I’m often asked what Biblical tools I use when delving in depth on a particular portion of Scripture. I’ve listed many of the New Testament commentaries I recommend here. Another invaluable resource is the IVP Bible Dictionary Series, which I can’t recommend enough for serious students of the Scriptures. However, one of the volumes in that series has been updated. The Dictionary of Jesus and the Gospels by Joel B. Green, Jeannine K. Brown & Nicholas Perrin is an incredible new update! Over twenty-one years... Read more

To the many who have asked, here are my comments about the subject of hell that I’ve written and tweeted in the past. * Whatever the nature of eternal punishment is — conscious torment or annihilation — this question has never altered my desire to bring people to Jesus Christ. Jesus is real Life, for the here-and-now, as well as for the future. So my motive for evangelism has never been to give people a fire-insurance policy. * The greatest Christian minds differ... Read more

The following is a guest post by Jana Wilson. — Congregations everywhere warn about the potential evils of social media. Overusing these platforms in a negative manner can lead to mental health issues as well as dangerous situations. Cyberbullying and other social issues are alive and well, and it can be quite upsetting to spend too much time on your social sites. However, as is a fundamental Christian belief, there is a light and dark side to almost everything. While... Read more
