The following is another guest article written by Gail Baker. Enjoy! — I trust that God understands agnostics like my husband, Steve–angry at life’s injustice or simply angry at those who speak from the pulpit. God may discern in them greater intellectual and emotional sensitivity than in certain Christians. Steve cries to distraction every time he watches the musical Les Miserables. His tears betray him, on cue, at every scene depicting God’s bewildering grace. Contending that Karl Malden, the priest... Read more

The NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible is designed to bring the ancient world of the Scriptures to life. My favorite living New Testament scholar, Craig Keener, is one of the editors of this amazing resource. (Keener is a friend and my historical advisor on Jesus: A Theography, God’s Favorite Place on Earth, and The Day I Met Jesus.) Keener handles the commentary on the New Testament and John Walton handles it for the Old Testament. I heartily endorse this new... Read more

The following is a guest article written by Gail Baker. Enjoy! —- It shocked me that the ones I felt closest to– my husband, Steve, an agnostic with Greek Orthodox background, and my Jewish parents– had the hardest time adjusting to my Christian commitment. The more intense the bond, the greater was their sense of disorientation and betrayal. They simply didn’t see it coming. They knew only one facet of my personality—the familiar, verifiable, and taken-for-granted side. No one should... Read more

Back in March, I was introduced to a new author who I had never heard before. Marc Schelske attended my SCRIBE 2017 mastermind event for authors in March. It was at SCRIBE that I learned about Marc and his book. And that led to this interview. I enjoyed Marc’s book and believe it’s a valuable resource. In the following interview, Marc tells you all about it. Marc’s book is called The Wisdom of the Heart: Discovering the God-Given Purpose and... Read more

The end of racism will never be achieved politically nor through violence or force. Neither will it be resolved by issuing denunciations against it. Unfortunately, many Christians today put their hope in the political process to solve such problems. And thus they debate the issue on the same level that the world does. But there’s a higher way. The following article was co-written with my friend and brother in Christ Derwin Gray. What The First Christians Can Teach Us Today  Over... Read more

Some of you have asked me great questions about my limited-edition Titan. What follows are your questions and my answers (below the image). 1) How will your upcoming Titan benefit me? And who is it for exactly? I want to know why I should invest in this book. So much of your stuff is free, so why get it? First, only about 30% can be found on my blog (though you have to dig deep to find it all). The... Read more

Dylan Potter has released an interesting new book called Angelology. I caught up with Dylan recently to discuss the book and his take on all things angelic. Enjoy! Instead of asking, “what is your book about,” I’m going to ask the question that’s behind that question. And that unspoken question is, “how are readers going to benefit from reading your book?” Dylan Potter: In researching and writing the book, I was looking for patterns and themes throughout Scripture and theology... Read more

If you’ve ever prayed the imprecatory Psalms in your life, please share the story with us in the comments and what happened as a result. By the way, the imprecatory Psalms are those Psalms which invoke judgment, calamity, or curses upon a person’s enemies or people perceived to be enemies of God. Examples are Psalm 69, 109, 5, 6, 11, 12, 35, 37, 40, 52, 54, 56, 58, 69, 79, 83, 137, 139, and 143. Illustrations: Psalm 69:24, “Pour out... Read more

The following is my interview with Clinton E. Arnold on his excellent book, Powers of Darkness: Principalities and Powers in Paul’s Letters. The book is one of the best I’ve come across on the subject. Arnold is Dean and Professor of New Testament at Talbot School of Theology (Biola University). Enjoy! Instead of asking, “what is your book about,” I’m going to ask the question that’s behind that question. And that unspoken question is, “how are readers going to benefit... Read more

Well, I just wrote a blog post on my laptop. You have the title (above). Guess what happened. As is sometimes the case when I use a laptop (which isn’t the norm), my fingers hit the wrong keys and I end up deleting the entire post. Usually, however, I can use the “Undo” feature and the blog post reappears. This time, no cigar. I pressed “Undo” multiple times and the post never came back. The post is history. I can’t retrieve... Read more
