7 Prayers with Bible Verses – Thankfulness

7 Prayers with Bible Verses – Thankfulness June 7, 2023

The following article was written by Mark Smith.

I am eternally grateful for every small detail you have given me. My small pieces make my life whole of so much love. It all comes from you, and I see it through your lens. One hand conducted many areas in my life to give me my world. I am standing here because of the creator right where I want to be.Here are some prayers with supporting scripture when you need God and his help on being thankful for His blessings.

Thanking God in difficult times

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Dear God, I often forget to thank you, especially in my burdensome times. My focus shifts from you to my current troubles. I never mean to lose sight of my blessings, but life sucks me into the depression of what I lose.

Thank you for allowing me to be so fruitful in your spirit that I know when I fall into these moments. I know that hard times are inevitable, but I want to be more of you and less of me in those moments. I ask that you reveal my eyes to see you in my pain. Amen.

Colossians 4:2

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful

My prayer life is not narrow as it should be. Instead, it looks like rain is coming and going in the tough seasons I find myself in. I’m not proud to admit this, but I know you are not shocked to hear the faults you watch me perform daily. I mean well, yet I lack the discipline to keep my eyes on you.

My awareness has opened my eyes to catch my actions before they drown my identity. I now say simple prayers to remind myself of my relationship with you. I am thankful for you never casting me out, even though I do not have perfect attendance. You are my savior and redeemer. Amen.

Psalm 23:4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Father God, my fears overwhelm me with chaos and anxiety of the unknown in my difficult times. I yearn for you and still find myself further in this time. I know you are beside me, performing behind what I see as troubles and fears. Your recognition does not go unseen, and I thank you for always having your hand in my life.

Walking in my valleys, I seek you out closely for the protection you promise me. I continue to cry out for you under my breath in hopes of easing my nerves. You are so good even when my life is tumbling down for a second. I know that you are faithful. Amen.

Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Christ Jesus, my situation shows me how good you are. During my storms, when the world is wicked, you remain the same. I thank you for being the only constant thing in my life. I never have to question your presence or stance in my life.

My prayer life starts with requests and ends in a conversation of thanksgiving for all you do. You desire my questions and requests for me to put you first. I never shy away from a request too large or a habit too small for you to diminish. You deserve the glory and honor in all my days ahead. Amen.

Thanking God for the little things

1 Timothy 4:4-5

For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer

God, you created it all, envisioned it, and placed it right in my life. I haven’t always seen the glory in what I believed was inadequate. Yet every detail comes from you and has a purpose given by you.

Everything that comes directly from you is sacred and holds a place in your heart. You are purposeful with your creations; everything is made for my good. I am forever indebted to your design and purpose for my life. Every small thing under the sun has awakened my eyes to see you in it. Amen.

Psalm 107:21

Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them

God almighty, you did not have to bless us with the ultimate sacrifice. Yet you did and continue to bless me with abundant fruits. You have done so much for me. When I look around, all I can see is you. Your sanctuary, health, family, hopes, and dreams all come from you. These attributes only scratch the surface of what you bring into my life.

Your unfailing love shows up in every area of my life. You are too good to me, and I cannot thank you enough. I am undeserving, and here you give me so much to deserve. Thank you for the small pieces in my life that make it whole. Amen.

James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Heavenly Father, it all comes from you. It all matters and has perfection in every individual attribute. You had a purpose in my road, looking bumpy from outsiders. You made my life full of questions, prayers, and answers. It’s perfect because it comes from you.

You never change regardless of my imperfections and my actions of mishaps. It’s seen as something insignificant in sight but holds significant weight. I am a shadow to you; you are the sky that remains in my darkness and sunlight. Your importance showcases in all that surrounds me. Thank you for being you, a perfect gift to me. Amen.

You shower me with many blessings that even my human eye cannot formulate. You work behind the scenes of many events in my life, and I receive the fruits of it all. I cannot express my gratitude or the humbleness you bring to my knees to praise you daily.

Conclusion:

I hope you found these prayers helpful and hope you can use them in your daily conversations with God. Using supporting bible verses about being thankful can be very helpful in helping you appreciate the small things in life.
