7 Quick Takes Friday

Friends, today is our last day in the current house. Yes, remember when we bought a house waaayyy back about 1.5 months ago? We’re FINALLY moving into it, tomorrow. We had some painting delays, some carpet delays, and needless to say I am ready to be moved!

I’m hoping to get to another post about Rome this weekend, but it probably won’t get posted until next week, as we won’t have internet at the new place until Monday afternoon. Also, there will be a lot of unpacking to do, and I haven’t been feeling 100% lately. This is all by way of saying, please be patient if I don’t get a Rome post up until next week!

Whenever I move, my photos and all wall hangings are always the last thing to get packed up, because otherwise I sort of feel like I’m in a mental hospital. It’s so sterile and sad with no pictures. Anyone else feel like that when they move?

Today was also my last day of being able to walk from my house to my job in five minutes. After this weekend, it’ll be more like 15 minutes. I guess I’ll have to get up earlier!

I am jumping on the bandwagon (I’m not sure if it’s best to call it a bandwagon, in regards to prayer — but anyway) and praying the novena to the Holy Spirit that starts today and ends on Pentecost Sunday next week.

EWTN has a printable version of it. I prayed it once a few years ago, and it is a very powerful novena — what I mean is not that it’s some kind of magic wand, but that after praying it I felt a deep sense of God’s presence in a time of my life that was so uncertain. Doors flew open to answer my questions. It was, for lack of a better word, powerful. I can’t recommend the novena highly enough!

I have been eating a lot of fruit lately. We got a canteloupe from the store the other day. It’s so good! I haven’t had melon since last summer and I love it. We also got our first fresh blueberries this week. Fruit is about the best sounding food to me right now!

Friends, I have to ask for prayers for Atticus and I for a special intention that we are praying about right now. I can’t explain what it is just yet, but (as selfish as it might sound) I have to ask you, my favorite prayin’ ladies to lift us up!

One last question: for all you homeowners out there, do you have any advice, tips or suggestions for things to know, keep in mind, etc. regarding being new homeowners?

Blessings and Happy Weekend all!
