The Satanic monument for the public square

This is the monument that the Satanists are trying to erect next to that of the Ten Commandments at the Oklahoma state capitol.

It’s an idol of Baphomet.   Note the effort to be child friendly.  It really does allude to the Old Testament conflicts with Canaanite idolatry.   Details after the jump.

New York’s Satanic Temple is petitioning to have the goat-headed Baphomet monument above installed at the Oklahoma state capitol to “complement and contrast” a Ten Commandments statue. (Makes sense.) “The statue will serve as a beacon calling for compassion and empathy among all living creatures,” said Lucien Greaves, the group’s perfectly named spokesperson. “The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation.”

With ten days to spare, the group has reached its fund-raising goal of $20,000 to build and donate the “homage” to Satan. “We are keenly attune[d] to the need for a public-friendly design and [the] plan is to make our monument an object of play for young children,” the group explains.
